LJ Independence Day

Got scared that murmanskdays would delete me and urgently decided to write something, even though I don't really care.
Today, November 18, is Independence Day here in Latvia.
I'm home in Daugavpils right now. Wanted to meet up with my second cousin Artur and my college buddy Edik. Didn't work out with either of them, because both of their wives have birthdays today (sic!).
Instead, I went to see the fireworks in the evening, which I brazenly called a parade in the comments to gugiens, thereby leading the philanthropic Gugens into a
misunderstanding, since he was craving photos of people at the parade. What parade, when it's -2 outside and gets dark at 16.00 ?
Then I drank some vermouth, even though I previously told phoneme that I'm a teetotaler (turns out I lied), and now I'm writing all kinds of nonsense out of boredom.
So as not to write completely in vain,

Four young people in dark jackets standing against the background of an illuminated multi-story building and a glowing «Latgola» sign at night.
The youngsters living in my dacha neighborhood

I admired the fireworks together with these comrades here, who are quite cultured and promising people. In the background is the renovated hotel.

Night shot of fireworks lighting up the sky with bright white and red flashes through clouds of smoke. Blurred silhouettes of a crowd and trees are visible below.
Oftentimes that's exactly how it all looked - like a cloud of smoke

But it gets better further on.

A narrow cobbled street of an old European city with tall buildings on both sides. Bright sun from above creates a sharp border of light and shadow, along which several people are walking.
Blue fireworks

The night sky is illuminated by a massive fireworks display with bright white-green and orange lights rising through the smoke over the silhouettes of the watching crowd.
Green fireworks

Night fireworks with red, green, and blue lights erupt in the smoky sky above a blurry crowd of spectators.
Multicolored fireworks

Blue modular plastic covering with a lattice perforated structure in the form of geometric patterns. Light from a flash or lamp reflects in the center of the frame, highlighting the texture of the material.
The climax - golden fireworks

Festive fireworks in the night sky with sparkling golden sparks below and large flashes in the shape of a fan or palm branches above.
The denouement, so to speak

I didn't capture the finale, though, because my tiny 16 mb Canon memory card ran out of space. And as for the 2 GB Patriot I usually use, its plastic casing started falling apart into pieces and crumbling, so I had to leave it at home. That's Japanese quality versus American for you.
So here's the bottom line: I liked the fireworks. And I already glued the card back together with superglue, which is actually just simply cyanoacrylate, and not even really "super" at all.
